501. Superior Spider-Man

This is something that pisses me off. Without giving anything away, I really can't see why they went this route, except for some gimmick. Yes, I do think there's a strong chance they'll bring Peter Parker back, but come on! He's Spider-Man. Of all the superheroes out there, Spider-Man is one of the ones that it just feels wrong for someone else to be under his mantle.
Batman? Yeah...I liked Dick Grayson's run as Batman. I liked Batman Beyond. I strongly prefer Bruce Wayne as Batman and he is the original, but I feel that it can be a shared mantle.
Not Spider-Man.
Besides, they got rid of Peter Parker in Ultimate Spider-Man, I thought that would mean that 616 Spider-Man would be safe. NOPE! Screw you, Marvel Now. I like some of your reboots, but this one is one that I really cannot get behind. I mean, don't get me wrong, I kind of like Miles Morales as Ultimate Spider-Man, but Peter Parker IS Spider-Man. Let us have at least ONE Spider-Man be Peter Parker.
Also, the idea of a villain taking up the mantle of a spider powered character trying to make himself better? Yeah, it's been done...and recently. It's Kaine's Scarlet Spider.
*Breathes out slowly.* Sorry...just needed to rant. This has pissed me off since I read Amazing Spider-Man 700.

Yeah, there are some independent groups I like...but most of those are based on TV shows I used to watch or whatever. Though...I do like IDW's TMNT. I think that's one of the few series I read from an Independent company that was originally a comic first. Actually...scratch that, most of Mark Millar's series are independent. I like Mark Millar. Enjoyed both Kick Ass series, Nemesis, Secret Service, and Superior.

I stopped reading Marvel & DC long ago. They have been doing either gimmick story lines, or retreads for years now. I prefer the independent guys. Sure, most of them are rip offs, or a little sketchy on the quality, but at least you get story lines!
