Slippin' and slidin'
nightmarelunatic on Oct. 9, 2012
It's not everyday I slip & fall at work, but when I do, it's with style.
I work at a dinky little warehouse with little to no regulations on anything. I hate it, but it pays good-like most jobs. Why not get an artist type job you ask? It should be easy right? The millions of other artist out there trying the exact same thing make it look so easy I guess. Sorry to be cynical, but I get that question so much. Non-artist types love to be your unwanted critic; they say it toughens you up. It really doesn't. It's unwanted noise especially when we didn't ask for it. It's worse coming from a person who doesn't get what the art world wants from us. Remember that when friends & famliy tell you your art is 'pretty or ugly'. I'd rather have a disney thug tear my work apart than have another family member tell me my painting is 'pretty'.
Sorry...I was ranting again.

@Jaymzeecat-Thanks, but it really wasn't that much of a fall.

I completely hear you on the non-artist thing. I also have a non-art related job--sometimes not having art and work connected, despite the rough times, helps, you know? It can keep us from hating what we do.

Oh no! This was me the other day too... except I slipped in cat vomit. Gravity must be stronger this time of year. Hope you're okay!
