Prodigal Begins

This story is going to be my first real project. I imagine its going to be around 30 pages, and so far its been fun. The comic has a lot of elements I'm working with both conceptually and fundamentally.

The whole thing is loosely based off the Christian Parable of the Prodigal Son, but draws more from the area and people I grew up around. Ill get more into that when the story is finished.

As far as fundamentals go though, I'm looking a lot at Will Eisner (of course) and Art Spiegelman's MAUS for style references. I'm also experimenting with a lot of programs. I'm an Ubuntu user, so photoshop and illustrator aren't really an option (not that I have the money) but for this I'm using a combination of GIMP and inkscape, which seem to have worked out really well so yeah I'm gonna keep it up with the other pages and see how it goes.
