So here is why I had to insert an extra page at the beginning: Double page spread! I needed that extra page to get these to be side by side. So there it is!
I had to scale it back from the regular page size so it wouldn't be too much of a pain as far as side scrolling and whatnot goes. If you visit Mastorism.com, you can peek at a "full sized" version, if you like. I've pretty much avoided these all together up to this point because it doesn't work well with my web format, but for this scene, I felt... why not?
So about the scene. Throughout this story I've hit on a number "classic" moments from the original Mastorism series that Jeff and I created so many years ago-- but the most iconic scene, to me (which, for you numbers folks, is a whopping 50% of our original readership!) was one splash page that Jeff had drawn showing John John standing trial with these whole-hand-covering handcuffs. Hand's down my favorite thing from the old days, and an image that's been stuck in my head ever since I first saw it.
As much as I'd like to tell you more about that original page, I think it might spoil a thing or three that's going to be happening here very soon, so I'll just shut up and move on.
Hopefully the dialog isn't too small to read. I knew it was going to be scaled down, so I bumped it up a bit. But not too much as I want to maintain as much integrity between the web and print versions of the comic as I can. Like I said, head over to Mastorism.com if you want to see a full sized version-- I'm sure it will require a lot of scrolling around, though. Fair warning.
Anyway, thanks for reading and commenting, everyone! You know I appreciate it, but I'll tell you every time anyway, cause I do!
The trial continues Tuesday! See you there!

And now, some comment replies!
Wellsee - Yeah, a certain unsettling irony, I think. And its tough coming up with an alien alphabet! You wouldn't think so, but to make it convincing.. yeah.
mushroom - Yeah. One version in my head had a full conversation between the two of them as cell mates, but I felt that, in order to do something like that justice, I'd have to dedicate a few pages to it-- not much action to start of an issue...
DAJB - Yeah, I think it warrants a double take. Even from my end I had to think, wait, what am I saying?
AzuJOD - Okay, there's the other reason I went this rout with the page too! I love drawing aliens. I'm writing another story that pretty much all aliens for the most part and maybe one human. Should be fun, but that's wayyy off before I start that one.
darkwaterfrey - Thanks! Ditto what I said to AzuJOD about the aliens!
trevor - Yes it is!
Ben - Thanks! I was a tad worried about using such a strong perspective shot in such small panels, but it seems to have worked.
jabali - Not dead. I'll give you that much. Thanks.
jazzcop - Didn't you hear? Two buttons are IN!
repoman - thanks!
That Kid Yellow - Hey, first off, I saw you start to post comments during the fan art days, so thanks for coming and checking it out, and DOUBLE thanks for sticking around!
always - Thanks!
Allright, see y'all tuesday!
