It's the future, afterall. Maybe all cars are just fancier.
I actually didn't think the movie was THAT bad, I just think it had the potential to be a lot better. For one thing, it used WAY too much CG. Using it for the action scenes was fine, but they even used it for the neighborhoods and whatnot, and it wasn't even GOOD CG.
I would not have cast anyone else as Pops, though. It's a role John Goodman was born to play. It's one of those Speed Racer sets, isn't it?
