| Setar |
It's a planet, mostly desert. Yes, a lot of desert.
No oceans, occasional rivers and lakes, but no oceans. It's largest oasis is where the story takes place.
The people who live in the desert are general called the 'desert clan' for lack of a formal name. Thus 'oasis clan' are those that live in the giant oasis.
Oh hell yes, I'm clever when it comes to names. Hahaha!
|
| Setarians |
The prominant race of Setar. If you looked at a single comic page before clicking this link, you probably know what they generally look like.
The normal non-magic users have browns and tans for hair/ear color typically. Leather that is worn thin, made into full cloaks, robes, and dresses is typical for the desert clan.
To shed sunlight. The oasis-clan typically has shorter or more pretty versions of that. In example: Dye. There is little to none, and it's reserved in the desert clan for religious figures.
Everyone almost in the oasis-clan has some.
|
| Ukitah |
Ukitahs, the secondary and only other intelligant race. They are like house cats with wings in appearance. They are generally tan in color, with shades from light tan to really dark, with housecat variety in patterns too.
Elemental Magic using Ukitahs, just like Setarians in this fact, will have colored fur. Though it may just be the edges of the wings or prominent pattern, or the whole ukitah is a fancy color.
Oh, and guess what? Every Ukitah comes with telekenesis, or they move objects with their mind. Easily. Assumedly any fullgrown Ukitah can lift something as heavy as a chair.
Personality Mwuahahaha, this will be fun to discribe. First of all, Ukitahs are cold and emotionless normally, a lot of the times being true bastards at heart. Survi, who has appeared in the comic is a oddball nice, playful Ukitah. Seriously though, Ukitahs are JERKS. They are very smart and collected though, and are often in the desert clan in the higher steps of the church. So, now that we know that, what do you think a Ukitah/Setarian half breed will be like? MWAHAHAHAHA! |

Religion
It's very detailed, I'd just read about the general and Oasis version if you hate words. I don't though, hell, I love the sound of my keyboard. (I'm not kidding.) |
Ah, Religion, the craziest things come out of it in real life. Like a giant invisible man guiding the world. Okay, I, for one have nothing against the sane version of religion.
Now lets just save the speech and go onto Setarian (and Ukitah) religion. Foremost, the desert clan and oasis clan have two versions. Similar, but ultimately different versions.
What is the same in both of them is that there are 6 deities that keep being reborn. 1 light, 1 dark, 2 life, 2 death. Pretty easy to keep track of, considering they don't have ones for elements.
Each rebirth is called a 'cycle', and it's so old that no one knows when it started.
Oasis Version. Okay, the people of the Oasis beleive right now that it's a start of a cycle, so only the goddess of light has been reborn. Simple enough. But here is where it gets a little tougher. Each deity has special rules to how it is born, which determines if it'll be corrupt or not. For example, the goddess of darkness has to die with something she regrets so much that she'd kill thousands or millions to reverse it. Fun. :D Okay, so, goddess, whom become such by following rules unique to them. They don't have any formal churches either. Now what? They have holy knights to follow their orders to the letter. Great. You probably realize, the holy knights are called... Sekait. Desert Version Historically, people who live in harsh enviroments have harsh sounding religions. Yet they themselves are nicer then a group that lives in a resource rich land. So? The desert clan beleives that the deitys they worship abandoned them ages ago. In fact, magic users, whom are beleived to be connected to the deities, are hunted and abhored. In fact, the Setarian word for 'magic user' also translates as 'monster'. So, they also have profession of Monster Hunters, and a lack of magic users. For the record though, they beleive in the strength of a person, and have nothing against people who use objects to cast magic. Also, unlike the Oasis version, they have formal churches, ideally one is formed right away when a town is made. People without their own house sleep there. Oasis-Desert agreement. Considering they are very different and very tense with eachother, as an agreement 'monsters' can be exiled to the oasis when found. As well, the Sekait are allowed to do any investigations that are needed in the desert. However, the people will have a very grating situation with one another. Monsters are more likely to be beheaded, maybe children spared. As well, anyone who isn't of the desert church will be an ass or violent to the Sekait. |
| Language |
This is mostly me going on about what I think their language should be like. It's not set in stone yet though.
Speaking of stone, since Setarians originate in the desert, it's what they mostly wrote on. So their written language is scratchy and angular.
Now, further about the written language, I don't know what the letters look like yet... but to translate it from english I write backwords. (Either sentance structure or the words themselves.)
All 'S's become 'Z's, and all 'C's become 'K's. So 'Catch me some zebra kittens' would be 'katkh me zome zebra kittenz'.
Which, depending on how lazy I am, it'll either be 'Zebra kittenz, katch me zome.' or 'hktak em emoz arbez znettik.'
And as cool as 'Znettik' sounds, I think I'll just go with the first because I'm lazy.
I might have a link to an alphabet picture once I figure out how to make fonts. Of course, I'm going to be lazy and just make 's' and 'z' look the same. I wonder how I should do capitals though? |

Magic
*deep breath* I can do this, I can explain it... I can... |
Now, okay, magic is two different types. To simplify them, it's 'Elemental' and everything else. Everything else is just that.
It's the weird magic that is ultimately rare, or only deitys use it, or is just unnatural. So, there is nothing to explain about it.
Elemental is divided into these nice clear sections: Red type Type A: Fire Type B: Lava/heat Blue type Type A: Water Type B: Ice Yellow type Type A: Lightning from the sky. Type B: Lightning from one's hand. Green Type Type A: Plant/vines. Type B: Acidic Purple type Type A: Shadow Type B: Currupt For the most part, Type A's are stronger. Type B of purple is assumed to be the best one of them all though, as it mimics other's spells. Now, since we have the elements down, lets talk of the spells. Generally, a good magic user can form a weapon out of their magic. (Zara's water whip) An average magic user can just summon a bit of the element. I.e. tieing a person's feet with vines. Absolutely amazing magic users can temporarily make wings to make the jump higher or slow their fall. Spells are basically all element, with some exceptions because, I don't think you want wings of acid, personally. Magic Channeling weapons also exsist for those who have acidic type, or just aren't that great with magic. They generally have a lot of lines on their design. I'm sure someone out there will pause and remember one such weapon or two. Artificial magic... or gems that give you magic power at the cost of your flesh and soul being eaten at little by little. Fun things they are, but no one in the world can make them. At all. They can only be found. Namely, same color as element, touch activated. |
