Wasn't too hard to do. Just a filter here, some paint there. Most of it was done by hand... Let's see if I can remember how it broke down. Drew the boxes, four, to separate the characters. Drew them in order from left to right. Had to turn the page around so I could do all the characters. I turned the pencil lines into thicker "windows" with protruding edges. I left them open, so I could paint em' later. Scanned it. Then, I colored in the black on the outside, then the colors (or greys) on the characters and the "window". After that I used the "magic wand" tool to highlight the outter black space. I used a "film grain" filter, which gave it the look. I then used my favorite font... "gorillaz"*. Just wrote it in one box. Had to hit "enter" to move down the bottom text. Then, I added a flare on the text so it would almost melt into the grain. I typed up the window text, and saved it as a PNG. Took around fifteen minutes to do (of actual work. That's excluding lag and scan time, among other things, including breaks).
