Description

Which is more important: your country or your planet? When belief is contradicted by fact, what do you do? If you had to choose between the certainty in saving the life of a young girl, or the possibility of saving the lives of an entire city, which do you choose? If Earth was in danger, would you give up everything in your life - your family, your friends, your job, and your future - in order to help save your planet? In 2006, hundreds of thousands of people around the world took a survey that included these questions. Several months later, they disappeared from the face of the Earth. Some were reported dead, others merely missing. They left behind family, friends, their careers and set off to learn the secrets of the universe. Ten years later, in January of the year 2016, they have returned. Appearing in a fleet of starships above the world they once called home, these humans who now call themselves the Tutatori have returned home to save the world on which they were born. They claim a friendly race of aliens known as the Ylatchee took them from Earth, taught them their technology, and have sent them back to offer Earth membership in their Empire. The Tutatori also bring dire warnings, that another race of aliens, the Dvora, are also out there and heading towards Earth. The Ylatchee Empire is at war with the Dvora. The Ylatchee Empire has been fighting the Dvora for a thousand years, and taught the humans of the Tutatori that the Dvora are barbaric conquerors. If they reach an undefended Earth, the Dvora will conquer the planet, enslave the human race, and they will strip the Earth bare of its resources. Instead, if Earth is willing to join the Ylatchee Empire, the home of humanity will have a chance to defend itself. As a member of the Empire, Earth stands to gain many things, not just military ships to defend from the Dvora threat. Cures for cancer abound, as well as cures for many diseases like AIDS, and genetic treatments for Parkinson’s. Other technologies include new engines that do not require oil-based products, and solar panels thousands of times more productive than anything know to Earth. The humans of the Tutatori have been sent back home by the Ylatchee to convince their fellow humans that Earth joining the Empire is best for humanity. Can the idealistic and earnest members of the Tutatori convince a war-weary, suspicious, and untrusting Earth that they are telling the truth? Can the Tutatori convince the leaders of Earth to put aside sovereignty and greed in order to pave the way for a better future for all of humanity? What of the Dvora? Are they really out there? Are they really hostile to humans, or can they be negotiated with? How far away are they, and what will happen when they finally find Earth? This is the story of Imperialis Tellus.
