Wow, you know you've made it when something promotional you signed shows up for 99cents on ebay! SEE HERE - that's too funny.

Today's strip...I wish I could kick doors in like that.

I had to fight for that to stay in the book a while back. There was some editorial talk about getting rid of it because it wasn't realistic or something,-- but it's a comic book! Ol' HBN is one super strong mofo, even with his battery life fading... THOOM!!!!

I get it! The ring isn't running out of power, it's HIM that's running out of the ring's power.

I've already started ordering this comic on a monthly basis. I'm hoping to enjoy it greatly.

I love these crazy character designs.

Why can't other comics be this cool? DJ I knight you the 21st century Jack Kirby. (This coming from a die hard Kirby fan.) Awesome stuff.

Oh, then, nope. I have no clue about that plot. This is a little different than that though. Not sure if he's really protecting the ring, as much as he is making sure that Talon has no chance to escape this time.

More specifically I meant how the character is protecting the item, which in bpm is a scroll, and the protecter is also protected by the item which gives him powers. Just seemed kinda similar.

Nah, never read BulletProof Monk, but I think that was created by Mike Oeming? He's awesome though.

Most of my "inspiration" comes from the old fun hero books by Simon and Kirby. Challengers, old Wally Wood stuff. Now, if something seems similar, it could very well be that those artists are inspired by those legends as well.

This comic kinda reminds me of bullet proof monk, the movie. Is there even a sliver of a chance some insperation was pulled from that lol?

It's the slade affect. No matter how many times you dump them into lava, they always come back.

DJ,
I got the very last copy of HBN at NDC Century III last night after work...whew! I was, to say the least, a great read. I enjoyed it, my wife enjoyed it and my kids loved it! Awesome all the way around. Looking forward to issue#2 and beyond.

And what made the Talon think his Nazi cowards could suddenly contain HBN?

Light effects around the new ring are pretty nice.

"So his Life Battery has a Battery Life?" HAHA! thanks for the kind words PS :D I think page FIVE is my favorite though, at least in this sequence.

Yeah, because I look for realism and believability in my comic books. ;P

Jason,
Excellent work on panel 2

Exactly. The ring works like a battery would on a phone. Charge your cellphone up for an hour, it could last two days turned on. No one knows how long this "charge" lasts though. He's been warned not to take it off though... bad things can happen since it is powering your body and circulation.

Hey, he just kicked the door down. Maybe he don't need to have the ring on his fingure or his body will carry the affects of the ring for a limited amount of time. Hmmmm...

Yea, i was looking at that just now, dj, and i was thinking about whether or not it was realistic... but i came to my senses and thought its just a very cool picture. Sure, it takes about 1.000.000 newton per square inch to kick in such a vault door like that, but hey, its HBN we're talking about here! Awesome display of powers, and i like it.

Ya it is still believable to me the ring changed his whole body at the atoms why wouldn't the effects take time to wear off?

Woot! HBN = smart when it comes to taking his enemies down with him. Thank God for that. Let's hope he still has those test tubes and they've got a bit more of a Batman flavor in them.
