I had completely forgot about the "end of the world in 2012" when I came up with the story, so nope, it's just pure coincidence (spooky coincidence).

Ah, so it takes place in the future- well, not too far into the future. Does this have to do with the Dec. 21, 2012 winter solstice thing that, supposedly will end "this cycle of creation"?
