Lets face it, the only thing more awesome then reading Harkovast is reading about how much other peoples HATE Harkovast!
And today you can do both!
I've just been reviewed by a webcomic blogger called Digital Inks and he completely hated it! http://ingenre.com/2009/10/harkovast/
Ouch!
The only things I didn't like in this review (because I've come to terms with the fact all my reviews are bad) is that he implied that I don't give Mrs Vast credit for the colouring....and he kept calling me Dan! A bit overly familiar there, mate!
(I've just set myself up for dozens of comments addressed to 'Dan', haven't I?) BUT WAIT!
Zaymac just brought to my attention a POSITIVE review for Harkovast! No seriously. Apparantly, a positive review is like a negative review but instead of hating it they actually like some of it! (I know it sounds crazy, but bear with me!)
Check it out here- http://rrrepeat.blogspot.com/2009/09/harkovast.html
Hooray! Someone liked it! Go team Vast!
And thanks to Zaymac for bringing this one to my attention!
In other news- if you haven't checked it out yet, please click the link below the authors notes to read Kombat Kubs!
It is my latest project and promises to be a lot of fun. It has a Nazi Skunk fighting a Ninja Rabbit! What more do you want???
I am always looking for people to exchange links with, so if you want a mention in the authors notes, just drop me a pq and let me know!
Don't worry about haters, this is the internet. You would always consider some asshole bish-bashing your work even if you worked hard on it. If you'd look at my comic Billy Learns to Rock, I got some bashing but that didn't bother me because I just ignored them and listened to the things that I want.
Anyway, onto the comic page, Sir Muir gets so spaced out in so many moments. One thing, he's advicing and the next moment, his mind is in lalaland.
So, there, I went through your archive and I must say, it is pretty good. It took me some time to grasp everything in the beginning but it started to clear up for me.
The story really picked up when we met Sir Muir for the first time and also, when he teamed up with Chen-Chen and things had become really interesting and the character development has started.
Onto the art, here's the thing about it, there's no perfection in art. This is how it is... here's some quotes that would keep you encouraged: "You shouldn't put yourself on a scale between good or bad, which you should put yourself in a scale between better or worse because the more you work at it, the more you get better. You should look at your recent page and the earliest page, there should be tons of improvements... it is all about improvements and there are no shortcuts... but I know you're doing your best." The other quote: "No matter how better you become, you and anyone else and even me, will remain in the middle because there will always be someone better than you and there will be someone worse than you." So, keep your chin up and your story is a really kick ass.
So, consider me as a friend and a fan :) I left you some comments all over... some are silly but that's how I comment, usually.
someone really needs to explain to hark's reviewer.
1. what the hell a cricket bat looks like.
2. Shogun is a samurai. samurai carry katanas, which is normal.
3. a review means when the pros and cons of something. not whining annoyingly about something you don't even remember the character names of.
4. random cool-aid man jokes are not funny in text. ever.
The story isn't bad, and you can't complain about the artwork, even if it isn't a style you like. I don't see much of a problem that the reviewers are seeing, especially since there are comics out there that make this one look like a godly good comic.
...I don't read any of those comics. I doubt that many people do.
A bad review from a individual who is victim of the hollow void that is his life to rip on some one else's comic work in such a detailed yet witty commentary parallel to that of a horrible sports journalist for the sake of self importance?! SWEET gratz man a 5 well earned for you!
When i was reading the 3rd panel, I was quite surprised how smart Muir had become. He was even able to focus at that point!!! It made me quite upset actually! Bet then you made for it in the next panel, so its all cool now. HAHA!!!
