Baby Connor
kaleygeminni on Jan. 8, 2013
I have good news and bad news:
Good News: My son Connor was born at 3:41 am, Monday. He weighed 5 lbs and 3 oz. Me and my hubby are head over heels in love with him. :) I labored for 24 hours, but in the end, due to my son's dipping heart rate with every contraction, I had to get a C-Section, of which the recovery sucks monkey a**.
Bad News: Right before we were to be discharged, we were informed that my son tested positive for the cytomegalo virus, which could be life-threatening for infants. I will be staying with my son at the hospital until, well, we know more. If all goes well, we could be back home by tomorrow. So far, things look good. He passed his hearing test, his lungs are perfect, and the fact that I had an uncomplicated pregnancy and don't smoke or anything is a good sign. They will be checking his sight and liver and everything else today, so I will be heading to the hospital soon.

Do not worry. I have two nieces who spent a bit of time in the NICU after they were born. One was born with a hole in her heart, among many other things, and she's now 19 years old. The other was born 5 and 1/2 weeks early and she'll be 5 in April. Both are doing fine. From these two I have learned that babies are some of the toughest things on the planet.

It's fine that you don't have the comic up, we all understand. I honestly wish it was under better circumstances, spent celebrating, that you didn't have the comic up. Regardless, I send best wishes your way and hope lil Connor will be okay and you can have that celebration after he's home safe and sound.

My offer still stands: if the post-partum blues hit, I got an experienced shoulder. ;)

Gosh, what a doll-baby! I wanna baby-sit. Kiss him, spoil him, feed him candy and send him back to Mom and Dad. Just kidding. I've had that done to ME a few times. XD

Kate the health of your family is much more important than a comic. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for you & Connor.

If people ask tell then you were forced to commit seppuku, only to get a reprieve before it was too late

I hope you forgive me, dear readers, but I won't be posting on Monday. Me and the hubby have been a wreck since our Connor got transferred to NICU on Thursday. So far, he's passed every test but they're redoing them to make sure, and he's going for an in-depth brain scan via MRI. Being separated from our child has been severely depressing and on Monday, we'll find out if we can take him home or if he has to stay for six weeks of treatment. He's going to have the MRI either Monday or Tuesday and our nerves are shot. I will try to have Geminni running back to normal as soon as possible, but Monday (today) will be one stressful day, waiting for the results of his bloodwork and everything else. Wish us luck! <:)

Congratulations on your physical manifestation of love between you and your husband. We, the readers of this comic, are unimportant in this time of joy in your life. Focus on recovering from you C-section and your new baby boy. We can wait for however long it takes for you to completely recover and settle in with your child (6 weeks to a year or so). I wish you the best of luck in this new chapter of your life.

What wonderful news! For once in your life, you didn't send me a text message on this one. XD So glad to see Connor made it in, and you're both well and healthy. Drop me a line and let me know how all of you are doing, especially the new mom. I want to know everything. :)
