Better late than never. I actually wasn't sure I'd be able to update this week, and I'm fairly sure I won't next week -- since I won't be home.

I had a small adventure this weekend. On Thursday, my mom and I traveled to WV (about an 8 hour drive) for a job interview. That night we stayed at the lodge in beautiful North Bend State Park, where my interview took place on Friday morning. The staff were very nice, and I think the interview went okay -- except I get over-excited when I'm in such beautiful places, so I'm not sure how well I presented myself.

Our plan was to try to get home right after the interview Friday, but conditions in the mountain roads we had to travel were not looking promising, so instead, we accepted an invitation to stay with my aunt (Mom's sister, whom she doesn't get to see that often) and wait out the storm. Saturday morning, we awoke to a couple feet of snow outside -- and no electricity or water. (After 12 hours or so, we did get power back.) We spent another night and headed home yesterday on clear roads (though snowy surroundings) and saw quite a few vehicles, including an 18-wheel truck, crashed and/or abandoned in ditches on our route -- vehicles that probably were attempting travel Friday night or Saturday.

We got home late yesterday, and I was just too tired to finish a Gelotology strip. I finished it this morning after composing a thank you email to my interviewers at North Bend.

Tomorrow morning, I'm catching a plane to visit JustNoPoint halfway across the country. I'll be home in late-ish next week (weather permitting, Heh ). The point of the trip? Well, there's just none.

@Anubis:
Criticizing word usage is what pompous people do. English is a language that evolves with how it is spoken, not vice versa. So, as much as it irks me to hear someone say "addicting" or "irregardless," I keep my mouth shut. ;)

@patrick:
Deceleration trauma XD Plane leaves in about twelve hours. :)

@hark:
Intelligence =/= Wisdom. The wise person would not antagonize a stressed driver.

@amanda:
No! Not learning!

@ghostrunner:
Using different words for positive and negative values would not be mathematically sound (or would get confusing), so only "acceleration" is used. However, in practical applications where one is not running formulas, deceleration is perfectly valid. In fact, since it usually applies only to speed, not direction, it falls into a different definition altogether.

Whenever someone brings up deceleration I always think of one of the deaths from the Space Quest games, "Deceleration Trauma." "The fall wasn't so bad but the sudden stop at the end was!"
Have fun on your trip, even if there is no point to it but considering who your visiting I guess there wouldn't be!
