The Stranding: Page One

I did this picture with this story in mind...
BBQ was gracious enough when we began this collaboration, to allow me to write the first chapter of the story. This particular story is set about a year before the events in "Sins of the Father" in the Only Half universe. So yeah, he is trailing his father...
Most of you know who Cabal is...one of the challenges to this story was to ensure that the audience, who might not be built in fans, would know who Cabal was and what he was about.
In Common Ground, he is introduced in the middle of scaling this cliff face trying to get to his destination.
So with a full page splash, we start exactly as the story does...
Another thing I decided to challenge myself with on this story was the art itself. I decided to try my hand at cell shading. A challenge indeed...it was twice as hard at first for me to make the art come off...though for this first page it was an effort that was well worth the additional time. It is one of the most stunning pieces I have ever done.

I really do like this spread, D. The angle is one I always have a hard time with, and I think the cell shading you opted to do with this suits the story. Can't wait until we get into the thick of things here, lol.
