The heavens themselves objected to me getting this page done on time. First throwing the usual random events in the way, and when that has only limited success, striking me down with a stomach bug! Still, better now and with page in hand! Yay!
I was actually going to make this page even more of a manga pastiche and put the sound effects in Japanese as well, but I'm pretty sure somebody's bound to complain just 'cause I've put one line of non-plot important Japanese in the comic. Gimme a break, I have a degree in Japanese, I have to amuse myself somehow! If you really need to know, the line reads 'omaera-!' (oh-my-eh-raa) which best translates as 'Oi, you lot!' The equivalent english just wasn't as funny, appropriate or in character somehow. I say 'in character' because I'll be really surprised if anybody doesn't know who that is, hahahahahahahaha. It was pretty fun to make a page that's full of samurai manga clichés. If the comic wasn't set in early autumn, there would be cherry blossoms, haha.

Hmm, take a shot now if somebody hasn't read my comments, doesn't get the joke and complains in a comment about the Japanese being there in an Englis comic or that the page is clichéd....

I love the third panel! The flowing material/swatch is a great touch!

I hope you feel better too - Your presence around DD is sorely missed. I don't think people are reading your "How to review comics" instructions (Or maybe English is their third or fourth language).

Good to hear you're feeling better. I like the pattern on the yukata/kimono/robe... garment in panel 4. And "omaera" is a phrase I really like the sound of... too bad I can't read kanji or I would've been able to read it myself, heh.

I was gonna be all dumb and faux-complainey about OMG THERE'S JAPANESE IN AN ENGLISH COMIC YOU POSER, but that's kind of dumb. Except I sort of did it anyway.

Random dumb thing to notice, but I really like the shading on the trees in that second panel. They look very tree-ey.
