Dawn of a New Era

The world of Dawn of a New Era has many interesting things about it... for starters, it is not technologically advanced. Also, encounters with varied creatures are quite common. Some can fly, some can swim, some can do both, some can cast spells, and some can make the ground shake with a single step.

The world that Dawn of a New Era takes place in, is a warm, moist planet, with its inhabitants living in times similar to the Middle Ages of Earth. However, not all has been peaceful. In fact, every thousand years, the world completes one Cycle, a Cycle of Fate, in which evil forces return to it. This requires a skilled warrior, selected by the Great Dragon, the god of that world. Last time, that was Joshua, and he and his friends succeeded, with mixed results.

Creatures of Dawn of a New Era

Dawn of a New Era has many different types of creatures within it.

Humans

What is a human? Well, in case you happen to be an alien, a human is a creature roughly 5 or 6 feet (1 1/2 to 2 meters) tall that pretends to be intelligent by producing its own forms of entertainment. Unfortunately for the universe, much of this is really garbage, in the form of reality TV. These creatures also kill both themselves and other creatures. They are seen as a very real threat to a planet's stability, destroying the very things that keep it alive.

A very few are imbued with a power known as Magic, which allows those with that power to perform amazing acts. Stefan is one such human. Humans ally with most races surprisingly well, either because they actually like them, or because, more likely, they can tolerate them. As such, humans can ally with Gigans, elves, dwarves, etc. Humans that breed with other races are known as half-humans, and gain some of the attributes of that race. Humans live an average of 70-80 years.

Elves

Elves are tall, slender beings that seem to have great aiming ability with weapons called bows and arrows, and can also use powerful magics. They can learn many tongues, but prefer Elvish. When one breeds with another kind of creature, that creature is known as a Half-elf. Queen Karen is considered a half-elf. Elves can live many hundreds of years, some even live upwards of 1,000 years. Most elves are roughly of human stature. Elves like most other races, but have some trouble with humans and dwarves.

Dwarves

Dwarves are short, stout beings that seem to be well-adapted to the darkness of caves and dungeons, and are skilled at making weapons. Dwarves like most other races, but are reluctant to accept elves to some extent.

Gigans

A type of creature that appears to be nothing more than a greatly enlarged human, this is a mistaken position to take, as Gigans are basically descendants of the gods. They are upwards of 100 feet (31 m) tall, and can live for over 100,000 years. They can use extremely powerful spells, and can punch holes in castle walls with their great strength. A Gigan's pinky finger can break through a roof or a wall!

Gigans like most other races, but have some trouble with monster races, particularly demons. They are somewhat reluctant to accept Humans' ways, too.

When a Gigan breeds with another race, that is known as a half-Gigan. However, these are rather rare, because a half-Gigan can only occur one of three ways:

    1. Through magic, the more common way. There isn't much danger doing this, but there also may not be enough magic to perform this act too many times.
From a male of another race to a female Gigan (a Giganness). There isn't too much trouble here, as far as possibility- the Giganness has PLENTY of room for a half-breed, but very few males want to perform this function. Also, a half-breed won't live nearly as long.
Or a male Gigan to a female of another race. This, however, is extremely dangerous. A female can actually be killed from doing this! Either from the act itself, or from the half-Gigan growing within her. Such a being must be removed from the mother before it gets too big. Even at birth, a half-Gigan will be at least 10 feet (3 meters) tall.
  • In any case, a half-Gigan must survive to do the same with another race in order to produce a Renzansu. They are even more rare. Renzansu keep their half-Gigan size at limited intervals, generally when threatened. Otherwise, they are at normal size for their race.

We've got more races, but only so much time. The rest will be explained on Saturday, May 5. Return to the latest comic
