We're VERY grateful for the contributions of William Adams, AKA "Dr. Destruction" of PILLARS OF FAITH, to the conception, brainstorming, and final product.
Hey, gangsy! It's St. Patrick's Day! And for St. Patrick's Day, we're not only going to turn the site green, we're going to bring in The Green F'n Avenger!
See, we've been sneaky little shits. We had this planned for quite some time, and we had keep really quiet about it until the time was right. This is no joke. Abby Lark is officially on-board, and she's bringing back the comic goodness here in The Crossoverlord.
So, obviously we had this set up. But wait, wasn't she hesitant to join in the first place? Well... yes! But we'll get to that later.
For now, rejoice!
Also, you can check out the Webcomic Beacon later this week to hear four of the six authors of Crossoverlord talk about the genesis of the comic. It's a Crossoverlord sausage-fest on Webcomic Beacon #68!
He either feels overwhelmed or lucky. Probably a combination of both...
It's like early DC or Marvel, where WW was the only female in the JLA, or Marvel Girl the only female in the X-Men. And it's interesting that webcomics tend to have as many female as male protagonists...in fact, we may have more female protagonists, in reaction to print comics.
Isn't that bizarre? If this was a DC or Marvel book, the female majority would be the first thing you'd notice, with the exception of Gen 13, perhaps. I suppose it's not as unconventional as it may have been at one time to have such a strong presence, but to completely out-number the males 5-to-1 and be barely noticeable is something else entirely. Even I totally forget sometimes just how female-driven our story really is.
You little scamps! We had a good laugh. We really appreciate it, since whoever gave us a Tropes page definitely went to great lengths to poke fun at us. Really funny stuff, guys!
May I just say, that green has always been my favourite colour? :)
I look forward to getting to know this new character.
And for all those of Irish descent, happy St. Paddy's day to you all! Though we may be a couple generations removed from that fair isle, we all feel its legacy in our character and our skills. Warrior poets we be, strong in heart and mind and gifted in prose. What we cannot resolve with fists, we resolve with words, hopefully over a tankard or two.
First off, the Webcomics Beacon interview is up. One thing we forgot to mention in the interview, is the contributions of Dr. Destruciton of Pillars of Faith, who contributed many ideas and general images---for instance, the appearance of "Ringo". We are VERY grateful for his contributions.
Also, there is a takeoff of the cover of Avengers #4, the comic that reintroduced Captain America to the world, at http://www.webcomicsnation.com/crossoverlord/EXTRA.php, our webcomicsnation mirror site. It just seemed to fit so well as a template for a gag "cover" about the return of the Green Avenger...
