We're VERY grateful for the contributions of William Adams, AKA "Dr. Destruction" of PILLARS OF FAITH, to the conception, brainstorming, and final product.
Ida, the creator of ANT, unfortunately has been VERY busy with college Chemistry (and in addition, she's one of two Danish representives to the World Cosplay Summit---details here) but though the art is mine, the dialogue is almost ALL hers. It was Ida who proposed this priceless bit of ANT-ese as ANT tries to pick a name for the team.
This reflects something we could never agree on. We could never come up with a NAME for our group. We batted around a hundred or so names. One we particularly liked was "The Crossoverlords" but that would be a better name for a VILLAIN group, than a hero group. So finally, we decided to name the series for the villain they're fighting, a la THE LORD OFTHE RINGS, and give him a title--THE CROSSOVERLORD.
Some of the names we batted around you can see here, especially towards the bottom.
Would you like us to open a "Name that Team" forum thread? Have fun with it--WE have.
By the way, Mindmistress is appearing with another super-team, MAGELLAN, on GRAPHIC SMASH, starting here, just like Dasien is in the current run of HEROES UNITE.
It's a toughie, I know! I eventually abandoned the idea of having a team name for my group. Given the loose affiliations between the members, I just couldn't imagine anyone in the comic would actually refer to them that way.
They're just friends and acquaintances so, in the same way you wouldn't give a name your own circle of friends, I didn't believe my characters would either.
Of course, the FIMSJFoPaJ does kind of roll off the tongue! ;-)
Al has kind of a funny definition of "fun". We were ready to kill each other over the comic title and group name. As I recall, Al was the one who pitched "The Crossoverlords" as a hero team name. I believe the objection was that the term "overlord" seemed more fitting of a villain, and thus the adjustment was made.
