Hey, this is another collab page. Line art is provided by Abby. Coloring is provided by Al Schroeder.

In today's exciting episode, Io escapes and makes one last bid to talk some sense into the Green Avenger. Failing that, she tricks the Avenger into returning to the prison.

Next week, boys and girls, we have a very special episode of the Crossoverlord. A two-part week, in fact! One on Tuesday, and another on Thursday.

And I'm not even going to tell you who the artist is.

IT'S A SURPRISE!

First of all, Abby is not the surprise artist. That's NEXT week.

The reason Io reveals herself to Green Avenger, although risky, is because she has a plan, and this is the fastest way to get it rolling. She took the chance of getting captured to get Green Avenger's attention.

The editorial explanation is that this was the fastest way to motivate certain circumstances to take place. There is a little bit of cheating going on here. I employed some television-style writing here to get through a scene with minimal explanation to move Green Avenger into place for a more important scene.

Her motivation for not immediately arresting Io are left up in the air, but this can be attributed to some uneasy questions she's had to face. She may be under control, but she's not oblivious to the fact that something is wrong, which you can see in her expression in panel 1.

Just sit tight. We're not done with this situation. We're building up to something.

Something grand.

Awesome surprise artist!

Wow, Greenie has gained a little since last we saw her. Maybe it was Thanksgiving? Hyuk, hyuk!

I'm not sure I would have revealed myself to a member of the enemy though. Or did GA let Io out last page? I was unclear on that.

"Wait, is "why NOT smile?" a real thing? Or is it just made up for this? I've never heard it before...."

Why not smile is an REM song that regularly comes up on my depressing Genius playlists on iTunes. Here are the lyrics!

The concrete broke your fall
To hear you speak of it
I'd have done anything
I would do anything
I feel like a cartoon brick wall
To hear you speak of it
You've been so sad
It makes me worry
Why not smile?
You've been sad for a while.
Why not smile?

I would do anything
To hear you speak of it.
Why not smile?
You've been sad for a while.
You've been sad for a while.

AzuJOD Said:
I notice that Green Avenger is sleeping in her costume.

Yeah, I might not have been specific enough in my script. I just took it for granted that Green Avenger be in pajamas but never specified what I had in mind. Abby knows her character best, so it's up to her to make the call.

In my head, I had pictured her wearing pajamas the whole way through, and then the last panel was to jump to her fully clothed, perhaps putting her cape on. But I never specified any such jump cut.

Again, it doesn't make any difference to me. If it was really important to have it a certain way, I would have boarded it.

I think it's just something Abby came up with. We were all just making references to Roger Rabbit.

Cool build up page with my favorite plump heroine in green! Sounds like the light has come on in her head! I'm definitely interested in the next page... :)

... I read that as "CLOTHING is provided by Al Schroeder."

Great page, now excuse me as I go get my brain back out of the gutter.
