Personally, I find it very hard to reconcile the other facts in Bible with the commandment "Thou shalt not kill"
-The fact that it preceded by God commanding the Hebrews to murder the inhabitants of Canaan
-God destroying the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah (including Lot's wife, whose only crime was turning back to look)
-The 'Great Flood' destroying 99% of life on the planet
I'm not saying there isn't good in the Bible: it just becomes difficult to reconcile it with the vast amount of bad in there too. Don't get me wrong, it's so well written, but it surely makes you think! The Bible is a very complicated book and is very easily interpretted by whomever reads it.
