@Stig Hemmer: Cheers, that's pretty much the impression I was going for. Earth's look was a little incidental as it got to colouring and my pessimistic tendencies took hold; I felt it might be a good way of hinting "yes, this is not a nice future..."

Like the space station. Looks rugged and worn. And I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it, but that Earth is looking a bit sickly, yes.
