Seriously, there's a whole other holiday in here. So why do I already see x-mas stuff up in stores, bows on items in fliers, and sale items attempting to start the paranoia of the holiday shopping season. I mean, Black Friday isn't even until the end of the month, and the actual holiday isn't for another 30 days after that! Calm down, everyone. We still have to make it through Gluttony Day before we celebrate the most pagan religious holiday (seriously, look up the origins) in the country.
Not that there's anything wrong with x-mas (except the music. I worked retail for 9 years, and I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing another holiday song. It would be a good life), but more people should go look up the origins of their holidays. It's fun and educational...and wikipedia makes it that much easier (although I recommend the library, myself).
So I'm getting back into drawing a little to help break up some of the photo stories. I have the next one compiled, I just need to build it - but since it's another dating story arc, I wanted to break up the longer stories with some fun little shorts like this one here.
Also, I want to get back into drawing. I have more illustrated stories to tell with this comic before the year is through. Hope you enjoy it, and have a great weekend.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to try to recover from my night of drinking and debauchery...since last night I turned 28. ;) -Posted on Nov 06, 2009 | | User: trevoramueller | | | seventy2: Wow, then I won't complain about hearing it now (only two months out).
Warpedwenger: I know, right? Personally, it's the music that I can't stand. Working 9 years in retail has completely ruined holiday music for me. I still enjoy the spirit of the holiday...but in silence. ;)
khard12: Thanks for the birthday wishes. You can last about 4 hours longer than I can if you can tolerate holiday music for 2 hours.
Brogan: Glad you agree. Then we will not have to kung fu fight to see who's kung fu is stronger.
mattchee: Thanks for reading!
amanda: You did call later and demand details, and by that point the festivities had barely begun. For the birthday itself, I kept it pretty low-key and just went out for martinis.
Druchii: I think it becomes a big deal again when you have kids...but since I don't have kids, I'm no where close to it being "important" again. I think it just lacks the commercial backing of the other holidays around it.
gullas: I know, right? And I always feel like a big Scrooge for bringing it up.
Peipei: Me too (hence the comic). Plus, it just leads to burn out on all things holiday-related long before the holiday has ever begun. -Posted on Nov 09, 2009 | | User: seventy2 | | 5 | | i heard it a month ago. -Posted on Nov 07, 2009 | | User: Warpedwenger | | 5 | | It's true it's DAMN true! -Posted on Nov 06, 2009 | | User: khard12 | | 5 | I'm with you on the holiday music! I can take about 2 hrs a day before I go postal.
Happy Belated Birthday! -Posted on Nov 06, 2009 | | User: Brogan | | 5 | | Dead on... -Posted on Nov 06, 2009 | | User: mattchee | | 5 | -Posted on Nov 06, 2009 | | User: amanda | | 5 | | Hope it was a totally awesome birthday! I'm sorry I didn't call or text - I was drugged and catatonic most of the day. However, I will be calling you later and demanding details. -Posted on Nov 06, 2009 | | User: Druchii | | 5 | I KNOW!!! LOL! Poor old Thanksgiving gets so overstepped and reduced to just a day to gorge oneself.
...Not that much has changed, but in grade school it was a bigger deal. There were plays to dress as pilgrims, people drawing turkeys with the aid of tracing our hands...
Ah memories... :D -Posted on Nov 06, 2009 | | User: gullas | | 5 | | true true *sigh* -Posted on Nov 06, 2009 | | User: Peipei | | 5 | | Lol! That always bugged me too x.x. -Posted on Nov 06, 2009 | Only registered members may vote. Sign up here! | |
