I was approached in 2006 to adapt this Jeremy Robert Johnson story from a mutual partner. A guy who works at The Meat Socket contacted me to ask what I thought of the story and was wondering if I was game to adapt it into a comic.
I was completely blown away with the story, but I had no way to grasp what Jeremy was doing with his words. This is the first (and to date only) time I have adapted someone's work. I wanted to stay true to the story, but at the same time there was a million light years worth of wiggle room for me in how to depict what was going on in it. Jeremy and I shot a few emails back and forth and I accepted.
What follows is some sketches of me trying to get my brain around his characters and environments.
The whole project is plus or minus 20 pages so I thought some teasers might be in order
