HO-LY CRAP, YOU GUYS. The past two weeks have been a whirlwind of busy-ness. It is serious college time for me (I've been attending a community college), and I'm making that decision on where I want to take my life for the next two or more years. The decision I make will dictate where I will move, which college I will attend and graduate from, and it will pretty much change my life forever.
Mentally taxing? YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
So, last week, in the span of four days, I toured three college campuses, one located in northern California, southern California, and one in practically-on-the-border-of-Mexico southern California. California is not a small state. In the span of four days, I drove over 1,000 miles.
Not only was I physically exhausted when I finished (last Tuesday) but I was so mentally and emotionally exhausted that just thinking about Al De Baran was out of the question. I'm still sort of in the process of deciding and getting things sorted out, all while still working, going to school, and keeping up with my schoolwork, and at this point Al De Baran is so far low on my priorities list that there has been no good opportunity to get started on the next comic.
I don't want to go on a hiatus, but I don't know if I'll update this week either. My mind is just so tired that it's so taxing to just focus on what's important now, and bringing other things into the mix just seems like mental suicide at this point.
Sorry, guys. That's a big thing that sucks about webcomics that are run by high school and college students; we're busy. A lot.
Oh yeah, a mention on GunZ. K-styling is what gives it the hack and slash feel. But besides that, you can always enter gladiator matches. That means no shotguns. Or guns at all. That's usually what I enter. The odd time I do quest mode... But meh. I can only butterfly so much on hard quests before it ends up to start becoming suicidal. Still, I feel like swords are the main weapons in GunZ, just because it allows you to do all the glitches.
I just wish there was mode different types of sword styles. Like, why not a two handed sword or something instead of dual sword? =x
Hey, PSO isn't bad. You just have to give it awhile.
Hack and slash isn't always mouse clicking, besides, you can customize it (I think) to let mouse click as the attack button, of course there's different types of attacks, along with combo's. It's not that bad. I mean it gets boring but at least each melee weapon has it's different animation, which isn't too bad.
Especilly if you get God battle. Then you attack really fast... =]
Anyways, the private server is called SCHT Hack. Yes, PSO is for the PC, And the game cube, dream cast, And now apparently for Xbox.
I wouldnt quite recommend Gunz now, I think the K-stylers have ruined it. >.>
Its hack/slash/Gun/Run. It used to be good but i just lost interest because of the wide ammount of K-stylers. Even the Private servers were unbalanced as everything good was for the K-stylers. (Dual wield shotguns? wtf?!)
PSO: i think you can find a private server for free... i dont quite know. ive never played it.
Yeah, I tried SoS. Diablo 3 Is probably P2P, Or B2P, so no. Freelancer maybe, I'll have to check it out.PSO, Is that free to play and download, plus, is it for the PC?
I'd say Secret of the Solistice. But... That is too much like RO, And alot less. Though I like how the weight system works. But the characters look sort of ugly, to me at least. They used the same mouse, same moving system... Just. It's almost a copy of RO.
If you like Hack and slash, you might as well wait for Diablo III To come out. I don't know too many games where you go around just slashing stuff. Maybe GunZ is the closest I can think of. Despite it's name. Rofl.
I dunno, downloading a pirated version of Freelancer may work for you. Freelancer isn't on sale anymore, Microsoft quit it, and they shut down the servers. So I don't see too much trouble. It's not a RPG though. But at the same time sort of is. It's mostly made for online play though.
Hmm. Maybe PSO (Or PSU too?) may work. I haven't really seen PSU though. But I'm guessing it has to be at least a little faster paced then PSO. I had a couple more games in my mind, but I can't think of them right now...
I tried S4, fun, but the zombies and well...you get the drill. I'm waiting for C9 to come out. I consider everything else "Money Craving Incarnations Made Purely For Profit".
Eh.. wait till The Chronicles of Spellborn comes out? (actually it is out, but not the North American server) Dunno when it's coming though. Did I suggest the S4 League already?
I'm not really into 3D rpgs... Spellborn is the first I'm looking forward to.
My brother is getting a 4 week break next Christmas. 4 Weeks ago he had a 1 week break too for Halloween. Not ony that, he has plenty of time to do his assignments.
Ex: Assignments due in 3 weeks.
Brother gets it done in 2 days.
Next day
Assignment due in 1 week
Brother gets it done in 6 hours.
There's just lots of space. And most of the tests are online. So he can basically due them at home. It's just... nice, I guess. Far easier then highschool. Despite all the family drama I have going on right now, which is why I -still- haven't updated my RO comic. And now ceasing me on my Megaman Zero/ZX one. x_X (Although I did attempt to try, but so much was on my mind, it ended up like crap... I even put the backgrounds in the wrong order... *Forhead>Desk*
Anyways. The point of this rant is...
.....
.....
*Ahem*
Anywa ys, if I was in your boat Kristen, you seem to like making the Al De Baren comics. So I'd suppose going into a college that best suits this type of course would be good for you. Of course there's lots of actions. Like, web site designing, programming, etc.
Personally, I tried all type of things. Like editting music, doing sprite comics, and even trying to make my own game. Trying to do computer art (Sort of like sprite comics, but I mean pictures. Utterly failed at it. I can only slightly edit them) and playing games... On the computer. (Who doesn't?)
All in all. All, if not most, of the skills I liked, and I think I am pretty decent with at the very least, mostly went into video game designing catagory. So basically, give yourself a MI test (Multi intellegence test) and see what learning style is best for you, what you like the most. And go on from there.
In my civics class, we went to a site called www.careercruising.com basically, we used our school's account, which we then created a profile, and after that, we went to career matchmaking.
It asks a whole bunch of questions on what you like and feel about... Lets say. Talking with people, on basically a 1-5 rating.
The stuff you like the most will be put at the top of what is best for you to do at a career. If you're not satisfied with the end result, you can keep doing more questions. I think in total it's like 80 or a 100 questions at maximum, and the end result at that seemed to be fricken accurate to make, it was almost scary. Except for the part where it said my #1 career was to be a cartoonist. I can draw sure, but not THAT well. And my people I draw. Ew. x.x But under that was video game desgning, it was pretty good from there. It takes like 5~7 minutes to do, unless you're really conscious about it, then maybe 10 maximum.
So maybe if you find a career you like, maybe you can find a good college. =] But I do know the factor with friends and etc are there too.
Good luck. =)
.......
Did I win the longest comment/rant award yet? I dunno why but I'm very chatty tonight. o.oa.... *Rates page a 5 anyways.* XD
As I said on a previous please wait, only few are getting restless. I sure like this comic, hope your college will go just fine and you can continue doing stuff on normal schedule :)
