If you saw yesterday's post, you know that I've decided to go ahead and debut the comic today. Here is the title page! I hope you like it. THis is my first ALL COLOR comic, so it is definitely a learning experience.
I appreciate everyone's wonderful and helpful comments, and keep them going. Even if you like it, please let me know what you think I can do to improve.
I like the lizard best. The girl's anatomy seems off.
1. mouth too wide
2. neck not drawn with consideration to the lifted arms
3. breats are horribly wrong for lifted arms
Are of the first problems noticed.
Omg this is so cute looking. I love the artwork and how smooth your coloring is. And the Lizard....so kawaiiiiiiii
The colors are soft and pastel like and the blend in easily to the next feature of the page. it gets your eyes wandering. I admire artists that do that ^^
I remember this picture from the animeiowa flyer you had at your table. I must say it looks great in color. I wonder if your going to put a date on the cover?
Heh, now that there is a happy lizard. I think the tree would look better with a bit more detail to it. It keeps your scenery looking interesting and helps to make the main character stand out.
Interesting page! That lizard looks almost spastically happy, and almost ignoring that there's a girl right there. ...The grin on her face makes her look like she wants to eat him.O.o; Yipes.
...Just kidding. xD In all seriousness, well done, and proportionately, she's well drawn. ^_^ Me likes.
Yay, title page! Again, I say the girl is very cute. Her smile seems a little off for some reason. Maybe it should be a little lower? Or maybe just smaller? I can't really tell without messing with the image myself. I really love your shading though - especially on boots. I'm so horrible at shading myself, that I'm in awe of somebody who can do it well. ^_^ Oh, and I agree with everyone else about the lizzard. He (she?) is adorable.
Colouring is quite nice - washed out a little and water colour like, it really helps set a tone for the whole thing. Will be interesting to see how the whole package comes togther as an actual comic rather than just sketches and a title page.
So THAT'S how you do the rainbow lines.....@.@ I don't have photoshop! I wish I did, seeing as everyone else on the face of the earth seems to have it ^^
Oh, have fun at Anime Iowa then! Your anime con, huh? Ours was back in June.....it was wicked hot. So much fun though!
I dunno... she could eat Charlie. He's got a fat ass. If you gave her a pointy tooth, it'd be kinda like the maniacal Excel look. Menchi/Charlie... their all the same to starving young psychopaths.
JUST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW...Thursday's update will come at 6 p.m. central standard time. I won't be home anytime before then, and have stuff to finish up on the page (yay for having a job where I can doodle/draw at). So if you are wondering where it is...its coming.
everyone has been asking about the rainbow effect, so, here it is. I take lineart into photoshop, or I do line art in photoshop. I make sure that the lineart is a lighter color, preferably a grey. Once I've done this I go use the gradiant tool to make a custom rainbow gradiant (I have one premade and saved). It should be set to overlay mode and have the transparency button selected and opacity set to about 55%. Then you just put the mask over and Viola!
LOOK! I am communicating! I want to eat, and you're not answering the phone. I checked my email. You Roxors! or something equally dorky. And... I have some of your mail, and I will open it letter (hostage) by letter (hostage) until you come pick up the rest!!!! (j/k) Alright... I still like this page. TUNA BOOT!!!!
NO! Death trees, and Death Bushes, and and... DEATH Bob Ross! Sorry... thinking of my black kitchen "table."
The color scheme on her looks good here. It's odd when she's chibi. I like it. And Charlie's got a fat ass. BTW... can you draw me a hamster? Bwahahahahaha!!!!!
jarlino-I always wanted to do a character with Thigh-High Boots...it just sounded like fun since I would never wear something like that it real life.
Toshubi-Most definitely. I'll be open again for commissions after August 7th, and I'll have more examples up by this Sunday of my work. I'm just finishing up a batch that I'm rather proud of. I'll have them posted on my Blog (www.blogspot.plushstuff.com).
Glass-yay, I can't wait to make happy little trees and happy little bushes, and happy little streams.
I'm so glad everyone likes the lizard/salamander thing...His name is Charlie...I forgot to mention that.
Mourou-Thanks! I was trying for a semi-watercolor feel.
Chelano-thanks for reading and commenting :D
Zammap-thanks for your helpful comments!
Ninja_Jette-That is her signature smile...everyone is always telling me to change it because it isn't very anime-ish...but its part of my unique style, so I'm glad that you liked it.
I'll be looking out for your commision site when it comes on line. Toshubi is a simple looking character, (But that doesn't mean he's easy to turn into a plushie.) I'd want him made well though and would be willing to pay extra for your best craftsmanship.
P.S. I like the texture you put into her corset looking part of her dress. :)
I like the light effect on the boots.
But when I take a closer look at them, they seem absurdly long.
Still, I guess I'm not allowed to rant on that since it's a fantasy tale in which anything can happen...like cute salamanders! ^-^
